Saturday June 17th – 8:30AM – 4:30PM – Tire Rack Street Survival Car Control Clinic

  • ARPCA proudly presents the 2017 Tire Rack Street Survival program in Pittsburgh!
  • Primary emphasis of Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about handling limits and how you can control them. Students will become more observant of traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As students master the application of physics to drive their cars, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts, too.
  • It’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING!  Thanks to support of Tire Rack, Michelin, Enterprise, BWM CCA Foundation, Pitt Ohio Express and Moon Township Ford we offer this event at a very low cost of $75.00. Space limited.

ARPCA.com

It’s that time… PVPG is here!

Thank you for registering for ARPCA’s 2016 PVPG Party in Schenley Park – one certainly for the history books!  Not much has changed from last year’s logistics but the following is worth a quick read whether this is your 1st or 34th PVGP…

LOGISTICAL DETAILS FOR ALL – SAT & SUN

  • Parking officially opens 9:30AM each day – all cars should be in place by 11:00AM.  Show officially runs until 4PM
  • Entrance is top of Schenley Drive at Forbes Ave in Squirrel Hill. (5370 Schenley Park Drive, Pittsburgh 15217 – GoogleMaps Link)
  • Volunteers will direct you to proceed down Schenley Drive.
  • Use GATE E – (PVGP Schenley Park Map here) Say hello and thank Eugene Williams and Mark Sheldon at entrance gate to German Hill.
  • ARPCA volunteers in Red T-shirts w/ colorful pool noodles will direct you to a parking spot – please follow their lead as we will be VERY tight with parking this year due to high registration count.
  • After parking, walk to registration table/tent for your packet.
  • Registration Packets – along w/ commemorative program, agenda, lunch wristbands, dash placard, door prize ticket (Sunday ONLY), and concours ballot are two thank you goodies per MSR car registration.
  • Catered lunch – Begins Noon-ish.  Wristbands (Yellow Sat – Orange Sun) are included in your registration packet.  Shortly after lunch will be door prizes, raffle prizes, Concours Winners, etc.

CONCOURS

Brian Strohmeier is again running his wildly popular “People’s Choice Concours”.  Everyone registered for Saturday is entered and gets a vote!  Your ballot (pale blue 3×4″ piece of paper) is inside registration packet.  Find your 5 favorite Porsches on green and put their Car # on ballot.  Turn all ballots in to registration table by 12 NOON.  Brian is quoted as saying last night “envelopes full of cash are welcomed… and highly encouraged!”

RAFFLES

To help raise additional charity $, Len Richards and Maureen McClure are again running the raffle table w/ goodies from generous club sponsors.  Swing by w/ a donation receiving an arms length of tickets for chances to win VERY cool stuff like: Paradigm Theatre Surround Sound Speakers, Porsche Experience Center Gift Certificates, Porsche Design Knives, Joplin 356 Framed Photo, Photographic Canvas Art, Signed & Framed PVPG Print from Porsche’s 2011 Marque of Year, Watkins Glen Cheeze-It NASCAR Race Tickets, ARPCA Driver’s Ed Event, ARPCA AutoCross Event and MANY more!   Items have been generously donated by club sponsors (in no particular order): Goosebumps, Porsche Cars North America, FastCompanyFraming, Matthew Little Photography, Almart, Sobek Secret Art, 2016Found.com ARPCA and a few more I’m probably remiss not mentioning right now.  Let’s support them as they do us!

LINDA BARNICOTT PAINTING

Famed Pittsburgh Artist Linda Barnicott will be on site Saturday (maybe Sunday too) at the registration tent. Rumor has it she’ll have with her the finished original Commemorative ARPCA PVGP 2016 Painting. Come take a look at her outstanding craftsmanship and support her helping the ARPCA / PVGP charities.

Phew – that’s a lot…  Sunday is repeat of above, just no concours but there is a door prize raffle for those pre-registered (ticket in your registration packet).

One final note:

*** WEATHER – WEATHER – WEATHER ***

As promised, weather is shaping up to be spectacular: Sat: 83F – Mostly Sunny and Sun: 87F – Full Sun! Because it’s a golf course, temps will feel about +10F warmer!  So, prepare to stay hydrated and don’t forget your shades, sunscreen, walking shoes, hat and a lawn chair to enjoy and cheer on the contingency of ARPCAers racing this weekend!

In the highly unlikely event there are any weather ‘events’ delaying our party or entrance to golf course, we will post updates if needed at TOP OF EACH HOUR (with time stamp) STARTING 6AM Sat & Sun on ARPCA’s website: www.arpca.com.  EMAILS WILL NOT be sent – Check web for latest info.

As always, we appreciate your support and patience of this PVGP Charity Event staffed entirely by volunteers!

See you at the races!

~ Ed Rice, ARPCA PVGP Chair

PS – Stop out at DoubleWide Grille – Mars, PA this evening for some Porsche Car-maraderie. It’s our 4th Annual PVGP Welcome Party for out-of-towners including the wonderful folks from Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and the brand new 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster S!

PVGP – Final Info 2015 – It’s Here!

It’s that time… PVPG is here!

Thank you for registering for ARPCA’s 2015 PVPG Party in Schenley Park which will be one for the history books!  Earlier this AM an undercover team snuck into the Rock Hall of Fame in the mistake by the lake and drove off with (shhh….):

When you see Tom M. in the park tomorrow, thank him profusely (but coyly to not expose his identity) for leading ARPCA’s Seal Team 356.

Quick spots about 2015 PVGP… as promised weather is shaping up to make this the hottest weekend of year… 3H’s for Sat and heat index of ~100F on Sunday!  Because it’s a golf course, it’ll feel about +10F warmer!  So, prepare to stay hydrated in the park and don’t forget your shades, sunscreen, walking shoes, hat and a lawn chair to enjoy and cheer on the contingency of ARPCAers racing this weekend!

LOGISTICAL DETAILS FOR ALL – SAT & SUN

  • Parking officially opens 9:30AM and all cars should be in place by 11:00AM.  Show officially runs until 4PM or the beer runs out… since we’re ‘burghers, that’ll definitely not happen until AFTER 4PM.

  • Registration Packets – along w/ commemorative program, agenda, wristbands, dash placard, dash plaque, door prize ticket (one each day you are registered for), and concours ballot are two thank you gifts.  To stave off many questions later… know one has a battery stop.  Just unscrew top remove it and you’ll be all set.

  • RAFFLES – To help raise additional charity $ this year, Len Richards is again running the raffle table w/ goodies from generous club sponsors.  Swing by w/ a donation for an arms length of tickets for chances to win some cool stuff like: HiFi speakers, Kitchen Aide Blender, Joplin Framed Ablum / Cover, Photographic Canvas Art, etc.  These items have been generously donated by club sponsors in no particular order: Goosebumps, Don’s Appliance, Classic Album Covers, Matthew Little Photography, Almart, Giant Eagle and a few more I’m probably remiss not mentioning right now.  Let’s all support them as they do us!

PVGP 2014

PVGP Victory Lap at AVS 2013

Thursday Oct 24 the 2013 PVGP Executive Team, Volunteers, Patrons, Special Guests and heads of various PVGP sponsor organizations gathered at the Allegheny Valley School (AVS) in Coraopolis.  Agenda for the evening was simple: present the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and AVS the 31st annual PVGP contribution.  If only it were that simple.

Undoubtedly the PVGP events in July are awesome.  However they pale in comparison to the Victory Lap.  This is the understated yet Grand Finale of all things Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.  Sure some of the ‘burgh’s Society Page who’s who were in attendance but the event has a grander purpose:  first hand witness of who, what, when, where, why and how the event exists and, more importantly, those helped through PVGP.

Early arrivals were treated to tours of the AVS campus seeing facilities and services provided.  Otherwise the festivities were kicked off at 7:15PM by AVS Bell Choir’s wonderful performance of America the Beautiful.  Brandon and Anita, 2013 PVGP Charity Ambassadors, helped PVGP Executive Director Dan DelBianco (emceeing) lead the Parade Lap recognizing all the volunteers and sponsors who generously donated pretty much everything including time, merchandise, services and funds for 2013.  Many ARPCA-ers were in attendance on behalf of our club and through their direct  sponsorship of PVGP.  The short list included:  Bud Osbourne, Ed Rice, Greg Farrell, Cliff Laschon, Marty Smith and Alan Smith among others.

For 2013 a new marque of the year record was established (throwing down the gauntlet?) with Mustang raising $75,200 juuuust edging out the ‘Marque of the Year’ all time high set in 2011.  Nicely done ‘stangers and congratulations on a fantastic acheivement!  Tantamount though is a new record contribution from PVGP to AVS and Autism Society of Pgh:   a 40% increase over LY with… $350,000!!!
