PTC Goes Back To School in April
WVU Hosts Gregarious Group Guest Gig
Following in the late comedian Rodney Dangerfield’s footsteps, the Porsche Touring Crew is going “Back to School” when it travels to the picturesque West Virginia University campus April 21st.
WVU’s Erickson Alumni Center has invited PTC travelers to enjoy a catered lunch in one of its VIP rooms, and get a brief taste of what modern campus life is all about.
Although the Mountaineer home turf is located only a stone’s throw from Pittsburgh, for many ARPCA members its image has remained a Division I hoops and gridiron sports powerhouse — along with being a 19-time NCCA Rifle champion — but otherwise has remained a well-kept secret.
The University, which began as a tiny ivy-covered college in 1868, now hosts more than 27,000 students studying in more than 380 major fields. It is a wide-ranging land- and space-grant institution that frequently reaches out to help state residents, but also conducts space-related research. Interestingly, WVU boasts the nation’s largest forensic crime scene crime complex (used by forensic science and criminology students); and its Center for Alternative Fuels, Engines and Emissions also played a key role in exposing the 2015 Volkswagen light vehicle diesel emissions scandal.
This PTC tour is designed as a “Drive on Your Own” event with PTC members asked to arrive in a “Porsche-only” Erickson Center parking area between 11:00 and 11:30 AM on the 21st. As is the custom at Erickson, our buffet lunch, prepared by the Center’s Executive Chef, will be a “fixed price” offering. The fare will include several (including diet-conscious) entrée items; those selections and pricing are now being finalized, but the cost will likely fall in the range of $20-25 per person, including tax and gratuity. Otherwise, there is no cost for the tour.
For meal and room planning purposes, early registration for this special tour is required. PLEASE use MotorSportReg to register for this free event.
This trip is an ideal way for all ARPCA members and their guests to combine Springtime driving with great friendship and get better-acquainted with a sizeable neighbor in the ARPCA Region! Hope to see your name in our sign-up roster soon!
