2014 ARPCA DE Schedule

Run with us at some of America’s greatest tracks!

The 2014 season is here. Come and experience what performance driving is all about.  We’ll manage 3 drivers education events on some North America’s most beautiful tracks. Events are Saturday & Sunday with a invitation only “lapping day” Friday for instructors and highly experienced students.

Click here for more information on what an ARPCA DE is and what it entails.

Click here for great read by our own Ralph Gaudio explaining why you SHOULD do a DE!

We are returning to 3 favorites: Watkins Glen, PittRace, and Mid-Ohio.

These DEs along with 4 Auto-Cross (solo) events and a Car Control Clinic will keep us very busy!

Support Material for Track events (such as Participant Guide, Track map, run-group assignments, etc when published) can be found here:  2014 DE Supporting Materials

About each track:

Watkins Glen (May 9-11 DONE!)

Watkins Glen International (nicknamed “The Glen”) is located near Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. Long known around the world as home of the United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for 20 consecutive years (1961–1980).  The Glen has been home to road racing of nearly every class for over 50 years, including Formula One, World Sportscar Championship, Can-Am, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and IndyCar Series.

We run the 3.4 miles Grand Prix configuration which is enjoyed by both new and experienced drivers. Friday we host lapping day for instructors and very advanced students. DE runs Sat and Sun.

Our spousal aux will arrange activities for those who are not interested in being at the track.

Pitt Race (Aug 9-10 DONE!)

Pitt Race (formerly known as BeaveRun) is just 20 minutes north of Pittsburgh International Airport and is a welcome addition to the Western PA region. It’s North Track, a 1.4 mile course and the Vehicle Dynamics Area (VDA), 5+ acres of pavement for auto-crossing and car control PIRC caters to new drivers as well as seasoned professionals.

This venue and event is perfect for first time participants! For all “newer” DE divers we structure the event to include a combination DE and Car Control Clinic. In addition to time on main track we include specialized, in-car instruction with activities on the Skid Pad, Slalom Course and Threshold Braking on the VDA.

All types of vehicles welcome!

In addition to Porsches, we have Audis, BMWs, Corvettes, Lotuses, Mazdas, Minis, Subarus (just to name a few) come participate. All that required is a valid state inspection and safety inspection completed by your local mechanic.

Registration Process

Driving event registration is conducted online through MotorsporReg (MSR) at http://arpca.motorsportreg.com. We use MSR to manage the events and communicate with you about up-coming events as well as specific details about events for which you have registered.  If you have not used MSR before there is a 2 step process:

  • Create a username, password and a profile which includes information about your cars and driving experience,
  • Register for specific events

The earlier you sign up the better we are able to plan – there is limited downside.  When registering for an event you will be asked for a credit card.  We will not charge your credit card for the event until approximately 30 days prior to event.  Due to significant track deposits, each event has a specific cancellation policy which can be found in the MSR registration.

Keep your data current!  It is important that we have a current valid email address for you. Please remember to update your information in the future should there be any changes.

What happens if the event is sold out? You are put on a wait list. Both Instructor and Driver applications are accepted on a first come, first serve basis, provided all eligibility requirements have been met. There are a limited number of Student spaces available for our events. This number may vary from one venue to another. The event registrar will inform you of your status (confirmed or waitlist) before the event.
