ARPCA Announces the 2016 Driver’s Education Event Schedule!

This year ARPCA will once again be conducting four Driver’s Education (DE) events.   DE events provide you an opportunity to drive your car on challenging and iconic racing circuits in a safe, controlled manner accompanied by a PCA-certified driving instructor.   Our Driver Education events are all on the weekend with an invitation-only “Lapping Day” on Fridays for instructors and highly-experienced drivers.

Unsure if high-speed track driving is for you?   We offer a Car Control Clinic as well as a new Autocross School that are an excellent introduction to performance driving techniques conducted in a lower-speed environment.  Additional information on these events will be posted on ARPCA.com when details are available.

We are once again returning to our favorite circuits: Watkins Glen International, Pittsburgh International Race Complex and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Support material for track events (participant guide, track map, run-group assignments, etc.) will be posted when they are available.  Until then register early…

About Each Event and Track:

Watkins Glen May 6-8, 2016

Watkins Glen Track Map

Watkins Glen International (WGI) is located in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.   Since the opening of the circuit in 1956, WGI has hosted innumerable sports-car racing series races including being the home of the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix from 1961 through 1980.   WGI is truly an iconic road racing track that enjoys a well-deserved reputation as being one of the finest road circuits in the world.   ARPCA events utilize the full 3.4 mile “Grand Prix” circuit.

Make plans to drive your car on the same track as all of the great road racers throughout history have!

Last year’s information is below – will be updated early 2016!

Pitt Race

PIRC Full Course – North & South Track Combined

Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) is located just a 20-minute drive north of the PittsburghAirport and is easily accessed just off of the PA Turnpike.   The circuit was expanded in 2015 and is now 2.75 miles in length.   The track has over 90 feet of elevation change and 19 turns that will challenge even the most experienced driver.  If you have previously only driven the old circuit, you owe it to yourself to experience the new; you will not be disappointed.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Mid-Ohio) is located near Lexington, OH, just off of I-71 between Cleveland and Columbus.   Like WGI, it has a long history of hosting many of the major road-racing series races dating back to 1962.   Although limited in total elevation change, the track is known to be very technical and challenging and will put any driver’s car control skills to the test.

Put this on your calendar now! Mid-Ohio is beautiful in early September.
