A Message from the ARPCA President

President’s Message:

Greetings Members – By now, many of you are thinking about waking up that Porsche and getting ready for the upcoming driving season and the plethora of club social events. I know I am! Unfortunately, the Covid-19 corona virus is overshadowing events. With that in mind, I’d like to share with each of you the Club’s thoughts as of right now.

First, above and beyond everything else we do, Member safety and well-being is and remains paramount. All of our decisions hold to that as the first priority. In this regard, Club leadership is on top of this issue, and we are evaluating what the ramifications are for us.

Second, we have events coming up with larger gatherings of Members. The All Member Dinner, is scheduled for the end of this month. This is always a wonderful time for renewing relationships and meeting new folks. As of now, the AMD is still on! Please understand that the situation remains fluid, and events can unfold where the AMD might need to be cancelled and rescheduled.

Also, near term there are two track events. These also tend to be “high attendance” gatherings. The first is the Taste of Track/DE 101, scheduled for the end of this month. As of now, this event is moving forward as planned. After that, the next large gathering is the DE at Watkins Glen. That doesn’t occur until the beginning of May, and hopefully, the Covid-19 will be well under wraps by then. But if not, we will continue to monitor the situation and keep you posted.

Besides these, we have a number of smaller events, and we are leaving it up to the organizers of these activities as to whether to continue, postpone or cancel. Club leadership is here to support whatever decisions are made.

As we work through these trying times on this virus outbreak, it is important for you to follow official published guidelines for personal hygiene, and the advice of your medical provider. If you do not feel well, stay home, and avoid Club events, even small ones. We are working on a policy for reimbursement or credit in these situations, and more will follow on this.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Ed Rice,

President
