Mid August 2023
Greetings and salutations, If you find yourself in possession of a little pocket money, I might have a suggestion. A-one-of-a-,kind 1956 Porsche Racer which won its class at Le Mans. This racer, chassis 550A-0104, was purpose built to race at Le Mans and, unlike many of its racing brethren, features a hard top – which sets it apart from many of the spider style racing variants. If spending an estimated 7.5 million on a vintage racing car isn’t in your budget, you are definitely not alone. But you can read more about it here. Shifting gears from vintage racing Porsches to recent events, the island of Maui and its inhabitants suffered a sudden and unthinkable tragedy. As a group, you are as generous of heart and spirt as you are passionate about your cars. You might consider making a donation to help those in need. I selected the Honolulu paper as it was local but nearly every major media outlet and platform has a similar list of resources available. Find a group, opportunity or program that speaks to you and help out. Here’s to seeing you out there, Shawn Cressler – Web Support. Sharon Lunney – Newsletter Editor. P.S. Registration for the Grand Concourse ends on the 21st, there’s a link to more details below. Don’t miss out on good food, a great venue, and a chance to show off your favorite example of fine German engineering. |

![]() August will find the touring Crew at Atria’s Restaurant in Peters Township. The original Atria’s in Mt. Lebanon was founded by Joe Atria and opened in 1930. It began as a grocery store and expanded into a barber shop and dry cleaners. In 1933 prohibition ended and Atria’s began to sell beer. Then offered food for the hungry masses during the depression. In 1998, Pittsburgh natives Pat and Nancy McDonald transformed the historical Mt Lebanon Landmark into an upscale casual restaurant that serves up American Classics. We are confident that the “Crew” will have a nice drive as well as a fine meal here on August 22nd. Mark and Tom |
