Hello ARPCA Members,

Porsche is planning a solution to “range anxiety” and charging those long charging times.  They are forecasting EV’s with an 800-mile range and 15-minute charging times in what they are calling the “medium term.”  The article gives a great overview of the changes they are hoping to make to current battery and charging technology.  It’s a good read and can be found here at carbuzz.

If you’d rather charge up your social batteries there are a number of ARPCA event’s all ready to go.  Details below.

Mid April 2023

Greetings,

What do you buy for the Porsche enthusiast who has everything?  Well, if money is no object apparently you can buy a custom slot car set hidden under the body of a Porsche 917K. Don’t worry it’s not just some boring oval electric car track, it’s a miniature replica of Circuit de la Sarthe as seen in the Steve McQueen film Le Mans. You can check it out here on Jalopnik.com.   If toy cars are less your market, the PCA has announced a 75th anniversary Porsche auction (more information below.) You can also read up on the “Palmen Barnfind Collection” a recently uncovered trove of 230 classic cars going up for action.  I skimmed the list and only saw one Porsche but there are plenty of finds to appreciate.

If a trip to Atlanta or the Netherlands for car shopping isn’t in your plans.  There’s plenty to do closer to home details below.

Here’s to seeing you out there,

Shawn Cressler – Web Support

Early April 2023

Greetings and Salutations.

In my continued search for interesting Porsche facts and news I bring you a collaboration that I couldn’t have forecast even with team of skilled prognosticators.  What could be so surprising?  How about Airstream trailers, yes that Airstream, the progenitors of fleets of sleek silver campers have teamed with Studio F. A. Porsche.  Together they have designed a minimalist yet full featured camper that clearly shows the best portions of its dual linage.  You can see the article and the concept art here.

If you’re not a “happy camper” or a camper in general we have a number of upcoming ARPCA activities no camping required, details below.

Here’s to seeing you out there,

Early February 2023

It’s a bird, it’s a plan, it’s a work of art on wheels

Porsche celebrates 75th anniversary of the 356 with introduction of Vision 357 Concept.  A homage to first roadster bearing Porsche name.  It manages to be a love letter to past while at same time looking forward at what’s to come.  Bloomberg describes as shape a “…coupe body that looks part Panamera, part Nissan 350Z, and is built on a 718 Cayman GT4 RS platform.”  That’s an impressive profile.

I recommend checking out some of the press coverage at Bloomberg, Porsche’s Newsroom, and Autoweek.  It’s worth your time just to see pictures as really does live up to its name, Vision.

Hope to see you out there
