  • ARPCA proudly presents the 2017 Tire Rack Street Survival program in Pittsburgh!
  • Primary emphasis of Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about handling limits and how you can control them. Students will become more observant of traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As students master the application of physics to drive their cars, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts, too.
  • It’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING!  Thanks to support of Tire Rack, Michelin, Enterprise, BWM CCA Foundation, Pitt Ohio Express and Moon Township Ford we offer this event at a very low cost of $75.00. Space limited.

Fall 2012 Rally

Fall Road Rally/Modified Poker Run

Set your calendar for Saturday October 6, 2012 to join Fast Frank and Iron Jack for a drive thru southwestern Pennsylvania you’ll not soon forget. Frank has outdone himself this time with a route starting at the Star theatre in Bridgeville, PA and ending at a great restaurant in…….sorry, I can’t tell you where. You’ll just have to follow the directions, and you’ll find us!

The Star is just off I-79 at the Bridgeville exit (#54).  Click: here for a Google Map.

This time we’re trying something the bikers do. You’ll pick a card from a deck at the starting point, stop three times along the route to pick three additional cards, look for the balloons, and then choose your final card at the restaurant, if you find your way. The person (car) with the best Poker Hand will win a prize.

Iron Jack providing instructions.

As always a $5 donation is requested with all money collected going to the P3 program.  So, come on out and enjoy another fun run with lunch on your own at a local restaurant with friends.  Bring your friends – driving a Porsche is not required!

We’re hoping for great fall weather and colorful trees along the way. Looking forward to a great time, great weather, and great friends along the way.

See ‘yunz there!

June Road Rally Recap

Rally Cars in line

The weather was crisp. The temperature had not yet reached 60 degrees at 9:30 in the morning when we started to congregate at the the Masonic Hall in Kittanning, PA. In all, we had 13 cars come play (including 2 non-Porsche’s). Our “farthest driven was one of Dave Hergenroeder’s friends that came up from NC. Second farthest was one of the father & son teams, this one in a Silver 997 from Erie.

The Route was developed by Dave Hergenroeder. Fast Frank & Iron Jack worked the scavenger hunt part of the rally. Combining the route directions and items to find the team working the event created a challenging but fun morning.

There were a few interesting twists that came about from this year’s participants – “T” was early (yes, it is true) and The Strohmeier’s were 45 minutes late (well, maybe not really 45 minutes late – but 45 minutes later than they planned to arrive…) Brian and Kristen didn’t have much time to socialize before being sent right back out. Look through the pictures and you will see the trio of Silver 997’s (I was able to get a picture of the 3 lined up.)

Leadership Planning

The first car was off at 10:00 AM sharp. We followed a long winding path up PA66 into South Bethlehem, West on PA861 through Rimersburg, and then North West on PA58 to Foxburg Pa. After 53 miles of driving and 50 some odd directions we made it to the Allegheny Grille.

Prizes were awarded to:

  • 3rd Place to “T” & her navigator for all but 2 answers right
  • 2nd place to the Rabeneck family for just 1 answer wrong
  • Winner went to the gather/son team from Erie. They participated last year as well.

Take a look at all the pictures that we captured for the event.

You too can have a great time. Come out and run with us on October 6th. Look in the Rundschau an the website for more information closer to the event.
