PTC Launches 2021 Event Slate;
“Re-routes” Imaginary Trip to Casablanca
Most movie buffs will never forget the climactic airport scene in Humphrey Bogart’s 1942 “Casablanca,” when an unlikely alliance was forged between Bogart’s character and his nemesis, Claude Rains’ corrupt French police captain.
On April 27, ARPCA’s Porsche Touring Crew plans to kick-off its 2021 schedule by bringing together old and new friends*** for a feast at another landing strip, this one overlooking the main runway at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. De Nunzio’s Chop House and Sinatra Bar will host the event, which was originally slated for December, but cancelled due to a seasonal snow squall.
Although the De Nunzio restaurant name is only a bit more than half the age of the movie, Ron De Nunzio learned his family’s recipes at an early age. At the Chop House, Executive Chef Joe Weaver (Laurel Highlands’ Restaurant Association’s “2019 Chef of the Year”) offers a variety of Italian and seafood favorites, punctuated by the restaurant’s famous chopped salad and unique flat bread pizzas. The entire menu will be open, but PTC’s sweet-tooth types, having long-ditched their New Year’s resolutions, will also fall victim to a take-home order of Mrs. D’s Chocolate or White Bavarian Cake, or De Nunzio’s homemade Almond Torte or Tiramisu.

***Note: As Time Goes By… Even a few movie aficionados may have forgotten the complete, timeless Bogart-Rains quote: “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
PLEASE NOTE: As most of you know APRCA has a long history of supporting charities. A decision was recently reached to require PTC participants to support a worthwhile nonprofit organization, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society (MS) has been selected as the recipient of this year’s support.
As a result, for all 2021 PTC events, participants must register themselves and any guests in advance by navigating to Motorsportreg.com. As you register you will be required to donate $5.00 per person, not refundable, and immediately billed through MSR. As usual, guests, spouses, friends, etc., are always welcome but must also be registered through MSR prior to each event.

As the health and well-being of all members is of utmost importance, face coverings and social distancing will be required, outside and indoors, except when PTCr’s are seated at their tables.
