PTC Adopts “Green Agenda;”
Votes Porch Dining with World-Class Views
A well-known Spanish playwright wrote, “Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.”
ARPCA’s Porsche Touring Crew plans to live-out that concept by returning to the historic Summit Inn for its June 22 driving event. Located atop Summit Mountain in Farmington, PA, the Inn’s sweeping 60-mile natural views will paint an emerald green backdrop for PTC’s veranda luncheon.
(The Way-Back Low-Down…) First opened to the public in 1907, the Summit was known as one of the last remaining “porch” hotels in the U.S. During the first decade of the Inn’s existence, hotel management boasted of home-grown vegetables and chickens, as well as elite table water from the same “Summit Spa” used by George Washington and his army. The hotel also advertised 50-cent taxi service for shopping trips into Uniontown, and a “spacious, clean garage” for those wishing to house their vehicles.
(Fast-Forward to 2021…) After arriving between 11:00 and 11:30 AM, PTC participants will leave their vehicles in dedicated parking, and adjourn to the Hotel’s “front porch” to enjoy beverages and a wide variety of American cuisine, and stimulating conversation. A number of healthy dining options will round out the menu. After lunch, some attendees will opt for the “back roads,” visiting some of the Laurel Highlands’ nearby attractions, including Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpiece, Fallingwater.
The Porsche Touring Crew is a very-informal ARPCA sub-group made up of a wide spectrum of friendly people. Events are open to ARPCA members and their guests. However, all attendees must register in advance by clicking directly onto MotorsportReg.com.
PTC hosts Tom Mueller (ermtcm@verizon.net) and Wayne Desbrow (wdesbrow@zoominternet.net) always welcome new members, and will be looking for you on June 22!
PLEASE NOTE: As most of you know APRCA has a long history of supporting charities. A decision was recently reached to require 2021 PTC participants to support a worthwhile nonprofit organization, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society (MS) has been selected as the recipient of this year’s support.
As a result, when registering on MotorsportReg.com, you will notice a non-refundable donation of $5.00 per person, which will be immediately billed through MSR. Guests, spouses, friends, etc., must also be registered through MSR prior to each event.
If you have an issue with this requirement, or with completing your registration in MSR please contact Tom Mueller at ermtcm@verizon.net.
The health and well-being of all members continues to be of utmost importance. As a result, ARPCA and the Summit Inn will observe all safety and health requirements mandated by the CDC at the time of the event.
