Sharky’s Café Braces for Steelers Fans;
Hosts Early PTC “Training Camp” Excursion
OK – so most Porsche Touring Crew members aren’t built like NFL middle linebackers. But on June 28th PTC plans to help a popular Steeler eatery – “set the table” for the return of the team and their loyal fans!
For the past two pandemic preseasons, Sharky’s Café in Latrobe, a magnet for Steeler Nation, has been running at 1/10 wide receiver speed due to the league-ordered Training Camp relocation to Heinz Field and the team’s Southside training facility. But Sharkey’s is now preparing for the return of the Steelers’ and their regular July camp, located just a stone’s throw away at St. Vincent’s College. The Camp’s return, and the promise of another Super Bowl appearance, are expected to bring hundreds of diners back to the Café.
Aside from its reputation for Steeler sightings and as a wide-open sports bar (30 HD TV’s, 2 full-swing gold simulators, 3 full-size billiard tables), Sharkey’s (sharkyscafe.com) has consistently been a league-leader, ranking among the top ten Westmoreland County restaurants, and scoring #1 on the Tribune-Review’s top sports bar standings for the past five years.
Weather permitting, the PTC group will be seated in the Sharkey’s Pier area. Executive Chef Dave Hart promises a “W” with a wide variety of culinary choices, including: Seafood Alfredo, Chicken Bacon Ranch Taco’s, a Jack Daniels Chicken Fiesta and a Summer Avocado Salad (with choice of protein). A separate Coal-fired menu always spotlights a monthly specialty pizza.
PTC members will gather at a set-aside parking area at the rear of Sharky’s building between 11—11:30 AM and will be seated for lunch just before Noon.
Event open to ARPCA members and guests. Pre-registration required along with $5 per attendee for PTC’s charity via MotorSport Reg. Space is limited; registration will be open until three days prior to the event at Motorsport.reg, so please sign up early!
Despite the year-to-year reduction in Covid-19 infections, ARPCA’s primary concern remains the health of its participants. As a result, all Westmoreland County and restaurant health regulations will be strictly observed.
The Porsche Touring Crew is a welcoming group of ARPCA friends, and is always looking for new members and new destinations. Contact Tom Mueller (ermtcm@verizon.net), or Wayne Desbrow (wdesbrow@zoominternet.net) for more information.
